The Kansas City Chiefs returned to practice on September 17 ahead of their Week 3 showdown against the New York Giants.
The date also marked quarterback Patrick Mahomes‘ 30th birthday, a significant milestone for a player who has already built a Hall of Fame resume.
In just three decades, Mahomes has captured three Super Bowl titles, three Super Bowl MVPs, two league MVPs, two First-Team All-Pro selections, and six Pro Bowls as Kansas City’s starting quarterback.
Reporters asked Mahomes this week about turning 30 and what the milestone means as he continues leading the Chiefs through another championship pursuit.
“It’s meaningful in a sense. It’s always hard for me on my birthday in general, especially this year with the losses. But, being early in the season, you’re so focused on football and trying to get us going in the right direction,” Mahomes said. “I feel the same. I got kids, man. I’ve been 30 forever.”
Happy 30th Birthday to Patrick Mahomes! 🥳 When Andy Reid asked if he felt any older, he said he feels the same.

Mahomes received a welcome birthday surprise on Wednesday when both Xavier Worthy and Jalen Royals returned to practice.
Neither wide receiver has played much this season due to injuries. Worthy’s shoulder problem came from a season-opening collision with Travis Kelce, while Royals has battled a knee issue since training camp.
Coach Andy Reid confirmed both players will practice without restrictions ahead of Sunday night’s matchup with the Giants.
Their return addresses one significant problem, but another remains unresolved.
Kansas City’s offensive line continues struggling with inconsistent pass protection despite heavy investments through the draft and free agency.
The situation becomes more challenging with Rashee Rice serving his six-game suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
These absences have left Mahomes shorthanded and searching for offensive consistency.
Instead of celebrating his milestone birthday, the superstar quarterback faces his first 0-2 start since high school.
He has completed just 58.8 percent of passes while averaging 222.5 yards in losses to the Los Angeles Chargers and Philadelphia Eagles.
