Ike Taylor On Troy Polamalu
Like the digits on his jersey, Troy Polamalu celebrated his 43rd birthday Friday. Ike Taylor wished him a Happy Birthday in his own unique way, commenting “ALIEN …” on Twitter/X. A loving comment that highlighted Polamalu’s unique skill set: a hyper-instinctive player with elite athleticism.
Taylor and Polamalu entered the NFL together in 2003. Each also exited together after the 2014 season, spending their entire careers in Pittsburgh. Polamalu became a Hall of Famer and rightfully is remembered as one of the game’s legends, but Taylor was a stellar man-coverage corner. If his hands were better and interception numbers stronger, his career would be remembered league-wide.

Stephon Gilmore Retires
Longtime NFL CB Stephon Gilmore officially retired Thursday. A five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, Gilmore started 173 games. He picked off 32 career passes and for a stretch from 2016-2020, was regarded as one of football’s top cornerbacks.
Gilmore played for six different teams but is best known for his time in Buffalo, where he was drafted, and New England. He last played for the Minnesota Vikings in 2024, starting 15 games and picking off one pass.
In six games against Pittsburgh, Gilmore picked off one pass, intercepting Ben Roethlisberger in a 2016 game while a member of the Bills. Despite Roethlisberger’s three interceptions that day, the Steelers still won 27-20 thanks to RB Le’Veon Bell’s 236 rushing yards through the snow.
