MCCORMICK LENDS HELPING HAND AT SDSU
Entering Year 3 in the NFL, Mason McCormick has established himself as a solid starting right guard for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He did that quickly after making the jump from the FCS level at South Dakota State to the NFL, stepping in as a rookie due to injury and never looking back.
In the offseason, though, McCormick headed back to South Dakota State to help coach up some young linemen. Though the program has changed dramatically since McCormick graduated, he’s still a Jackrabbit through and through, and lent a helping hand to the next generation, as captured on video by SDSU beat writer Matt Zimmer on X.
STEELERS AT SMACKDOWN
The Steelers and WWE’s Smackdown teamed up throughout the week to promote the show Friday night at PPG Paints Arena, as superstar Chelsea Green spent time at the practice facility on the South Side, took pictures with Cameron Heyward and Joey Porter Jr., and even presented Heyward with a championship belt.
Friday night, second-year defensive tackle Yahya Black and third-year right tackle Troy Fautanu, along with director of player development Darrel Young, were in attendance at Smackdown and found their way on camera.
They even indulged in a few adult beverages in the offseason, taking in the sights and sounds of the squared circle.
MARCUS PETERS JOINS COACHING RANKS
After an eight-year career in the NFL, former Chiefs, Rams, Ravens and Raiders cornerback Marcus Peters is back in the football world, this time as a coach.
According to a report from the San Francisco Chronicle and shared by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Peters is taking over as the head coach of his high school.
Peters takes over the job from his dad at McClymonds High School in the Oakland area, giving him a shot to get back into the football world. Peters played at McClymonds for his dad and became a three-star recruit before heading to Washington, helping him get out of the Oakland area and pursue a career in football.
Now, he’s looking to do the same for young players.
