Arsenal is having a memorable season, but it would count for nothing if they do not add silverware by the end of the season. While Mikel Arteta and his players focus on on-pitch performances, the board is working on summer transfers.
Arsenal Jump Ahead of Liverpool and Manchester United in Race for Anthony Gordon
The squad assembled by Arteta at Arsenal has been praised by former players, pundits, and fans. There is very little weakness across the positions, but the left wing has been an Achilles’ heel for the past few seasons.
Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have been the manager’s options this season, while Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke have also been tried in the position by the Spaniard. They need reinforcement in the position, and the board has identified the perfect player.
According to a report in TEAMtalk, the Gunners are keen on signing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United. The winger has become the key target for the summer, and they are ready to push ahead with the move.
Liverpool and Manchester United have long been admirers of the winger, and have been linked with him since 2024. However, the two sides have now fallen behind the Gunners, who are desperate for the left winger.
Gordon has been in fine form for Newcastle United this season, especially in the UEFA Champions League. He has scored 15 goals in all competitions, with 10 of them coming in the European competitions, and just three in the Premier League.

That has caught the eyeballs of several clubs, especially the Premier League trio. Newcastle United is calm about the situation, as the club has a contract with him until 2029, but Eddie Howe was questioned about the winger’s future.
The Magpies manager was quick to say he was not bothered by the report, as he was unaware of any interest from any other club. He still sent a strong message to the winger, urging him to remain focused on the Tyneside club, and said:
“I’m not sure there’s a lot I can do about that. I’ve not seen the story, so it’s news to me. But we’re mid-season, we’re in the middle of some of the biggest games of his career, and who knows what’s going to happen internationally with Anthony in the summer as well. He’s not got time to look left or right. He’s got to be fully focused on straight ahead and the next game, and trying to be as good as he can be.”
Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United have reportedly been quoted $101 million for the winger this season.
