Fifth seed Jessica Pegula will look to put herself in a strong position to qualify for the WTA Finals in Riyadh as only three spots are up for grabs. Standing between the American and a second WTA 1000 singles final in 2025 is World No. 27 Linda Nosková.

Pegula has had to battle quite a bit during the China Open, having won each of her last three matches in three sets. The 31-year-old booked her place in the last four of the tournament with a 6-7(2), 6-2, 6-1 win over compatriot Emma Navarro. Nosková, like Pegula, is yet to face an opponent ranked higher than her in Beijing, and reached her maiden WTA 1000 singles semifinal after triumphing 6-3, 6-4 over Sonay Kartal.

The American will look to be aggressive from the start of the match and make her effective backhand to good use. Her stamina could come in handy while dealing with Nosková’s power.

The Czech has won 104 out of 144 points on her first serve so far in Beijing, serving 13 aces like Pegula. However, she has also served 19 double-faults during the tournament and will have to be careful not to produce too many of those. Nosková will take a lot of confidence from her past encounters against Pegula and will be eager to dictate points from the start of the match.

However, if the American produces the same resilience she did in her previous matches, there is a fair chance of her reaching the final in Beijing.
