The first injury report for the Miami Dolphins’ Week 2 game against the New England Patriots features a key Dolphins receiver. Jaylen Waddle left early in Miami’s opener but later returned. The Dolphins, however, still struggled in a 25-point loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
Heading into Week 2, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has his work cut out for him.

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle Appears on Injury Report
In total, eight Dolphins appeared on the injury report. Their Wednesday participation status ranged from did not participate to limited, with Waddle listed as limited. Only Waddle and safety Ashtyn Davis were limited participants; the other six did not practice at all.
Waddle’s appearance on the injury report isn’t alarming, but it is something to monitor. It’s clear his Week 1 shoulder injury is still bothering him, and it’s an issue the Dolphins can ill afford. With Tyreek Hill already drawing heavy attention, the last thing Tagovailoa needs is to lose his other top receiver.
Head coach Mike McDaniel, who has been with Waddle for most of his career, knows the receiver’s limits. The 26-year-old has played a full season only once, in 2022. He has missed five games combined over the past two years.

Last season was the first time Waddle failed to reach 1,000 receiving yards. In Week 1, he was limited to 30 yards, though that wasn’t surprising given he played barely more than a half. Tagovailoa still targeted him five times, and Waddle caught four passes.
Despite limited snaps, Waddle still finished with the second-most targets on the team. By the time he returned to the field, Miami was already trailing 20-0. The Dolphins avoided being one of three teams not to score a touchdown in Week 1, but their lone score came in garbage time. They did successfully convert a two-point try.
Waddle still has Thursday and Friday to work back to full strength. Even if he isn’t 100%, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where the fifth-year receiver doesn’t play. McDaniel will likely proceed with caution, but a matchup of 0-1 teams against the Patriots looks like an ideal chance to regain confidence.
Unless there is an unexpected setback, it’s safe to assume Waddle will play in the Week 2 clash, which kicks off Sunday at 1 p.m. ET at Hard Rock Stadium. The game gives both teams a chance to even their record at 1-1.
