The New Orleans Saints will enter Week 15 without running back Alvin Kamara, who has been ruled out of Sunday’s 4:25 p.m. ET home game against the Carolina Panthers at the Caesars Superdome. Kamara, dealing with a knee and ankle injury, has not participated this week and has missed the past two games since exiting the Week 12 loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a knee injury.

Alvin Kamara’s Return Status for Week 15
Kamara’s absence comes because of a sprained MCL suffered in Week 12, which forced him out of that game and has kept him off the field since. While the severity of MCL sprains can vary, his ongoing lack of practice participation and the Saints’ decision to rule him out for Week 15 indicate that he is not close to returning at this point.

Throughout the Week 15 preparation, Kamara was listed on the Saints’ injury report with no practice activity due to the knee/ankle issue, and his game status remained unspecified before ultimately being ruled out by the team.
With New Orleans eliminated from playoff contention, the Saints have little incentive to rush their veteran back ahead of full healing. The team appears focused on protecting his long-term health rather than risking further damage in the final games.
With Kamara sidelined again, rookie running back Devin Neal is expected to serve as the primary ball-carrier for New Orleans, according to SaintsWire. Neal has filled in during Kamara’s absence, although he was limited in practice with an abdominal injury, commanding a big snap share and seeing increased touches over the past two games.
Neal’s expanded role gives the Saints a chance to evaluate their depth at running back and see how the offense adapts without its most established playmaker. Backup options such as Evan Hull and Audric Estime have also logged snaps, but Neal remains the team’s most likely lead back while Kamara is out.

While the Week 15 ruling clearly keeps Kamara out, his timeline for return beyond this point is unclear. Some injury analysts suggest that minor MCL sprains can require one to three weeks of recovery, depending on how the injury responds to treatment.
This could put a return target around Week 16 and 17, but there is also a legitimate possibility that New Orleans decides to keep him out for the rest of the season, given their lack of postseason stakes.
In short, Kamara will not play in Week 15, and while a late-season return is possible, nothing in the latest reports indicates he’s close to being ready. For his play before the injury, PFSN’s Impact metric gives him a score of 70.9 with a C- grade.
