The Baltimore Ravens are on life support following their “Sunday Night Football” loss to the New England Patriots. Their slim hopes of winning the AFC North are dependent on winning their final two games while the Pittsburgh Steelers lose theirs, including the regular-season finale against those very same Ravens.
It’s a tall task, and there’s a chance that the Ravens will have to conquer it without All-Pro quarterback Lamar Jackson under center.

HC John Harbaugh Offers an Injury Update on Lamar Jackson
Jackson was forced to exit Sunday night’s contest in the second quarter with what the team later diagnosed as a back injury. Tyler Huntley, a former undrafted free agent who spent the first four years of his career in Baltimore as Jackson’s backup, was forced to enter and ultimately finish the game. Jackson was eventually ruled out.
Head coach John Harbaugh told reporters on Monday that Jackson is “day to day” with what is now being described as a severe back contusion. Jackson, who turns 29 in a couple of weeks, underwent an MRI, and the results came back clean with no further damage.
“It doesn’t look like it’s more than that,” he said, according to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley. “He’s in there getting treatment now.”

The Ravens are on the road for their final two games of the season, starting with a trip to Green Bay for a date with the Packers on Saturday night. Jackson’s status is going to be closely monitored throughout the week, but there’s a good chance that the majority of the No. 1 reps in practice will go to Huntley. Like the Ravens, the Packers are also fighting for a berth in the postseason, but their odds are significantly more optimistic. All the Packers have to do is either win one of their remaining two games or the Detroit Lions have to lose one and they’ll have secured a spot in the playoffs.
Similarly, like the Ravens, the Packers are facing a quarterback conundrum. Jordan Love exited Saturday night’s game against the Chicago Bears in the first quarter with a head injury and will spend the week in the concussion protocol. His backup, Malik Willis, finished the game but suffered an injury to his throwing shoulder at the end of regulation.
Injury-Plagued Season Continues for Lamar Jackson
The 2025 campaign has been a far cry from what the league and fans have come to expect from the two-time Most Valuable Player.
Jackson has missed multiple games this season due to injury, but he’s also battled through a litany of ailments that have hindered him in the games he did play. He missed three games due to a hamstring injury while also navigating knee, ankle, and toe injuries. Jackson even missed practice last week due to an illness, and now he’ll have to figure out how to fight through a back injury.
Across 12 games, Jackson has completed just 63.7% of his passes, which would be his lowest in a season since 2022. He’s thrown for a measly 2,311 yards, 18 touchdowns, and six interceptions while rushing 63 times for 340 yards and another pair of touchdowns. A multi-purpose threat because of how impactful he is with his legs, that’s a career low for a single season in all three rushing categories.
Barring any changes, Jackson should still finish the regular season with a passer rating above 100.0 for the third year in a row, earning a PFSN QB Impact score of 75.2.
