The Magic’s offensive performance was so rough that analysts couldn’t help but react strongly to the disappointing loss.

Spotrac’s Keith Smith had the harshest verdict, writing, “The least creative offense in the entire league. And that’s including the 10 teams who didn’t give a crap about winning a game for at least the last couple months of the season.”

It’s not just a simple dig at a bad night, but an indictment of Orlando’s entire system.

The Athletic’s Tony Jones piled on with two separate posts, beginning with, “Mannnnnnnnnn, Orlando runs awful offense…..Their sets are flat-out awful,” before adding, “Bro, it’s jarring to watch.”

PFSN’s Alex Kennedy echoed a similar sentiment, writing, “The Magic’s offense is so hard to watch.”

NBA podcaster Chris Vernon took a more sardonic approach, quipping, “I’m not a coach, but I feel like Orlando would find more success if players moved. At all.”

The implication is that movement, the most basic principle of offensive basketball, was absent all night long.

What Really Went Wrong for the Magic Against the 76ers

The numbers do explain the harsh reactions, as Orlando shot just 7-for-27 from deep against Philadelphia.

Kelly Oubre Jr. nearly matched their entire output from deep all by himself, burying 5 triples for the 76ers.

Magic star Paolo Banchero was active in the first half, but then his impact vanished, as he scored only 5 points on 2-for-10 shooting after halftime.

Philadelphia, meanwhile, got 31 points from Tyrese Maxey, 19 from Oubre, and a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double from rookie VJ Edgecombe in his first postseason appearance.

Andre Drummond’s impact on the game was also visible throughout the night. Drummond had a major size advantage, and it showed, as he chipped in 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks off the bench for the 76ers.

The Magic will now face the Charlotte Hornets on Friday in a win-or-go-home game for the Eastern Conference’s eighth seed. Their offense has to look very different, nowhere close to what it was on Wednesday. If not, their playoff hopes will be over.
