The Terrible Podcast – Steelers-Falcons Game Recap, Joey Porter Jr. Situation Moving Forward & More

Season 17, Episode 22 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers beating the Atlanta Falcons, 20-13, on Sunday to open their 2026 regular season.

Alex and I discuss the team’s perceived health coming out of their first regular-season game in addition to going over the six players who were inactive for that contest, one of which was CB Joey Porter Jr.

As we get into recapping the Steelers’ win over the Falcons, we start by talking quite a bit about their defense. We go over the amazing play of OLB T.J. Watt on Sunday in addition to discussing several snap counts on that side of the football. Several defensive players had strong showings against the Falcons, so we make sure to note each one. We also discuss how poorly Falcons QB Cooper Rush played and how most of Atlanta’s offensive success came via RB Bijan Robinson.

After thoroughly breaking down several aspects of Pittsburgh’s defensive play from Sunday, Alex and I do the same for the offense. We note how QB Aaron Rodgers pushed the football down the field with more regularity than last season and how a key third down passing play to TE Darnell Washington effectively secured the win. We talk about the running game and how it came alive late in the game.

When we’re finished talking about several things related to the offense, Alex and I break down Pittsburgh’s play on special teams against the Falcons.

Once we are done breaking down the Steelers’ win against the Falcons, Alex and I discuss the team being unable to sign Porter to a contract extension prior to the game getting underway. We discuss what the immediate future might hold for Porter. That includes us discussing how the Steelers could ultimately trade him by this year’s deadline.

This 93-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we end this show by answering several emails we received from listeners.
