The Terrible Podcast — Broderick Jones Option Decision, Steelers Salary Cap Update, Consensus Draft Board Talk & More

Season 16, Episode 130 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers not picking up OT Broderick Jones’ fifth-year option. We also discuss whether that decision would have been different had Jones not gotten injured last season.

Steelers WR Roman Wilson is reportedly changing his jersey number, so Alex and I go over that news in addition to a few other number changes that have apparently been made so far this offseason.

In the middle of this show, Alex and I go over the latest Steelers salary cap update on the heels of the team’s draft haul and the unrestricted free agent tendering of QB Aaron Rodgers. We also discuss the effective future salary cap space the Steelers now have and if the team will need to restructure a contract or two later in the offseason.

With the annual NFL draft now behind us, Alex and I discuss the loud consensus draft-board discussions going on right now. Is the consensus board a real thing? Who says so and what evidence is there that most NFL teams use it? We attempt to answer those questions.

Alex and I also discuss the Steelers’ need to start drafting and developing better, as evidenced by the team’s top 10 cash earners for 2026 as of May 1.

Steelers HC Mike McCarthy has had a few radio interviews since the draft ended so we highlight a few of the notable things that he has said.

Is new Steelers RB/WR Eli Heidenreich indeed the team’s best seventh-round draft pick of all-time? Steelers owner Art Rooney II sure seemed to indicate that during a recent television interview, so we discuss what said about the Navy product much later in this show.

This 87-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we end this show by answering a few emails we have received from listeners.
