Steelers Sign Wide Receiver, Make Multiple Roster Moves Monday

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made multiple roster moves on Monday. Per the team, the Steelers have signed WR Levi Wentz to the offseason roster. In corresponding moves, the Steelers released ILB Daylan Carnell and P Aidan Laros.

A Pittsburgh native who played at Pine-Richland High School, it’s a homecoming for Wentz. Earlier today, he shared an Instagram story photo of him in the building. 

Beginning his career at Old Dominion and Albany, Wentz spent 2025 at Kansas. There, he caught 16 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He caught the go-ahead touchdown pass against Cincinnati but the Bearcats scored in the game’s final seconds to win.

Wentz signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent but was waived earlier this month.

At his Pro Day, Wentz measured in at 6023, 199 pounds. He ran a 4.59 40 with a 34 inch vertical and 10’4″ broad. At Kansas, he earned the nickname “Bouncer” from coaches due to his physical playing style that should fit in well with Pittsburgh. Wentz played football for just one season at Pine-Richland, making him a light recruit, but he impressed and helped lead the school to a 10-2 season and playoff appearance.

He’s the second wide receiver the team has added this month joining Joaquin Davis.

Carnell was an undrafted free agent out of Missouri making the switch from safety to linebacker. Waiving him creates $3,334 in dead money, $1,666 of which will count against the 2026 cap. Laros was just claimed off waivers earlier this month and evidently didn’t impress during his few spring practices with the team. Both had steep paths to make the 53-man roster.

The Steelers now have just one punter, Cameron Johnston, on the roster, but could add another in the coming weeks before training camp.

With today’s moves, the Steelers have one available roster spot.

Pittsburgh has been busy shuffling the bottom of its roster this month. Today’s moves included, the team has added six new players and waived/released six others. The Steelers also completed contract extensions with EDGE Nick Herbig and TE Darnell Washington.
