The Philadelphia 76ers eliminated the Boston Celtics with a 109-100 Game 7 road win on Saturday, completing their comeback from a 3-1 series deficit behind Joel Embiid’s dominance.
After what marked Philadelphia’s first playoff series win over Boston since 1982, Jaylen Brown struggled to digest Boston’s collapse during his postgame press conference, suggesting that Embiid was foul-baiting. On Sunday, the Celtics star doubled down on his accusation, sparking widespread backlash.
NBA World Not Buying Jaylen Brown’s ‘Flopping’ Accusation Against Joel Embiid
A day after finding himself on the wrong side of NBA history, Brown refused to let the “flopping” issue die quietly, reiterating his feelings during a Twitch stream.
“Flopping has ruined our league,” Brown said. “Joel Embiid is one of the greatest players that has played basketball, but he flops. He knows it, too.”
NBA fans did not take long to pounce on the timing and tone of the five-time All-Star’s blunt comments.
“Call me old school or whatever … but maybe wait more 24 hours after blowing a 3-1 series lead to get on a stream to talk s**t about the winning team. It’s just … soft and whiny,” Fox Sports analyst Geoff Schwartz wrote.

“Hopped on a stream a day after being eliminated with a 3-1 lead and immediately starts bit**ing😭😭😭,” another X user remarked.
“Let’s talk about how Jaylen Brown ruined our league by begging for awards and pushing an agenda that he’s smart when he’s a** and dumb. Players shouldn’t hold so much power over the media,” one user claimed.

Meanwhile, another user highlighted Brown’s reputation for pushing off defenders to create space on drives, writing, “And your push offs Brown? You can’t make a shot unless you push off and against [VJ] Edgecombe… I laugh as I type! Learn to use your left hand other than pushing off! Stop whining and improve your game!”
“Getting on stream 24 hours after a G7 loss in a series you were -1000 to win. Game is truly gone,” Barstool Sports’ Jack Mac commented.

Things went south for Boston before the opening tip-off, as Jayson Tatum was ruled out with left knee stiffness. Head coach Joe Mazzulla was forced to scramble and roll out a heavily adjusted rotation, which struggled to cope with the Sixers.
Philadelphia’s comeback was fueled by Embiid recording a game-high 34 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists in just his fourth outing since returning from an early April appendectomy.

Meanwhile, Brown posted 33 points and 9 rebounds for a Boston side that failed to see three of its starters score a single point.
With the win, the seventh-seeded Sixers punched their ticket to the second round and will travel to face the third-seeded New York Knicks.
However, for the Celtics, their abysmal series choke forces an abrupt offseason loaded with difficult questions about the roster and Mazzulla’s rotations.
