For the first time since Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes got together, the Kansas City Chiefs have lost three games in a row.
It’s also their first 0-2 start to a season in almost a decade.
That’s why they need to bounce back against the New York Giants on “Sunday Night Football.”
According to former NFL player Will Compton, failing to win would be a catastrophe for Kansas City.
“It means that the Roman Empire has fallen if the Chiefs lose to the Giants. I don’t know the data on teams that go 0-3 and they make the postseason, or even make the Super Bowl, but if you lose to the New York Giants, which I don’t think they will, the Roman Empire has officially fallen,” Compton said.

Of course, context matters, and the Chiefs have been better than their record shows.
Two late-game blunders by tight end Travis Kelce have been costly.
Also, they’ve been without their top two wide receivers, as Rashee Rice is serving an NFL suspension, and Xavier Worthy, who might return in Week 3, is dealing with a shoulder injury.
For years, the Chiefs had been on the winning end of almost every close game, but they’re not getting lucky bounces or favorable calls anymore.
But they remain a team with one of the greatest quarterbacks and offensive playcallers the game has ever seen.
It’s never been wise to sleep on the Chiefs.
They have to make some major adjustments, but if history has taught us anything, it is that Mahomes and the Chiefs can always defy the odds, especially when people think they’re done.
