Josh Allen opens up about DJ Moore, Joe Brady after offseason of change

After the Buffalo Bills completed the final practice of their minicamp sessions Tuesday morning, Josh Allen took some time to meet with reporters and address multiple aspects of the team. Allen discussed getting comfortable with the new group of guys and Joe Brady as head coach.

Based on what Allen had to say, he is nowhere near establishing chemistry yet with new wide receiver DJ Moore. 

“Still working on it. Still working on it with everybody. There’s just different nuances that some guys have in their body language. He’s as smooth of a football player as I’ve ever been around. I’m lucky to come to work and have the guys that we do, especially him going out there. He works extremely hard and it’s fun to be out there with him.”

The positive thing to take away here is Allen was complimentary of Moore and how smooth his routes and work ethic are. In fact, his comments suggest the two are still learning each other’s tendencies, body language and the subtle details that often separate good quarterback and receiver connections from great ones.

It also worth noting that the trust is already being built between the two of them. Chemistry can take time and be an issue within a new offense, but it is evident Allen has trust in Moore’s work ethic and attitude. 

If the duo can keep stacking reps in camp, there is no reason why Moore will not become one of Allen’s go-to guys by the time the games start.

Allen’s comments show exactly why Buffalo decided not to completely blow things up on offense and start from scratch again. Allen knows Brady already, so there is a foundation and a line of communication that would not exist with a new coach.

“No stranger to coach and to have the familiarity that I do with him and the relationship that I do to bounce different ideas off of him. He’s still our play caller. That’s not going to change. I think his wants or emotions during practice have changed a little bit because he’s got to root for both sides now. He’s cheering our defense on, he’s cheering our offense on, and he just wants us to go out there and compete as hard as we can.”

One interesting thing that came up is how Allen pointed out that Brady’s responsibilities have expanded; he is still calling plays, but now he has to see the team through an extremely different set of eyes as the head coach. 

That dynamic is likely going to keep Buffalo’s offense where it needs to be while uniting everyone for this new chapter.

What is in store for 2026?

Allen’s words made it sound like a quarterback ready to embrace an offseason unlike any he has experienced. Between building rapport with an entirely new corps of receivers and learning the dynamics of having Brady as the head coach, there is a whole lot in flux for Buffalo as the 2026 season approaches. 

Allen enters the season with more on his plate than ever. But with the overwhelming takeaway from his time with the media one of optimism, development and eagerness to continue building, it seems the franchise QB will be prepared for anything.
