Season 16, Episode 84 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Saturday afternoon emergency podcast, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers deciding on Saturday that Mike McCarthy will be the team’s new head coach.
Alex and I provide our initial reactions to McCarthy being the Steelers’ choice as their next head coach and why he was likely given the job. We go over the many connections that McCarthy has not only to Pittsburgh, but to members of the Steelers’ front office as well.
With McCarthy the Steelers new head coach, will veteran QB Aaron Rodgers now return for the 2026 season? Should the Steelers even want him to return? Alex and I address those questions and more regarding the connection between McCarthy and Rodgers and potentially the latter playing one more season in Pittsburgh.
With McCarthy now the team’s new head coach, Alex and I try to connect several logical dots when it comes to candidates to be on the Steelers coaching staff. We go over a few offensive and defensive coaching staff additions we could see and discuss a few current members of the coaching staff that might be retained with McCarthy now the head coach.
Alex and I also discuss Pittsburgh failing to bring in Chris Shula and/or Nate Scheelhaase for in-person interviews at this point.
