The Terrible Podcast — Steelers-Patriots Game Recap, Possible Offensive Changes, Porter Jr. Update & More

Season 17, Episode 25 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 20-3 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday.

Alex and I discuss the team’s perceived health coming out of its second regular-season game in addition to going over the seven players who were inactive for that contest, one of which was once again CB Joey Porter Jr.

The Steelers offense really looked pitiful against the Patriots, so we start on that side of the football as part of our game recap. We discuss WR DK Metcalf and his drops, the lack of explosive plays on Sunday, and the running game remaining flat overall through two games.

Will the Steelers trim down their offensive playbook moving into Week 3? Should there be any personnel changes along the offensive line this week? Alex and I attempt to answer those questions and several more concerning the offense as we move along in this show.

Rookie WR Germie Bernard’s play was perhaps the most positive thing we saw offensively from the Steelers on Sunday, so we make sure to give him a few props during this show. We also discuss OG Spencer Anderson as perhaps being the weakest link on the Steelers offensive line through the first two games of the 2026 regular season.

Alex and I also discuss Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers’ lack of mobility and how that certainly isn’t helping the offense.

While the Steelers certainly played well enough defensively on Sunday to win, they still allowed six explosive plays. We discuss a few of those big plays allowed and a few other key plays made on defense against the Patriots.

The Steelers’ special teams play against the Patriots certainly wasn’t why the team lost on Sunday, but that phase of the team certainly didn’t do anything to help put more points on the scoreboard. We go over the good and bad from those units against the Patriots.

After breaking down the Steelers’ loss to the Patriots, Alex and I discuss the latest reports concerning Porter. We go over what Tracy Wolfson said about Porter ahead of Sunday’s game and whether this week will be a watershed moment for the Steelers when it comes to them possibly drawing a line in the sand with him. Would Porter’s side have a good grievance case should the Steelers claim that Porter’s conduct is detrimental to the team? Should they just ask Porter on Wednesday if he’s going to play in Week 3 and go from there? We attempt to answer those few questions concerning Porter.

This 84-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap above and we end this show by answering several emails we received from listeners.
