Week 5 was not good enough, and I’m not going to dress it up. Michael Wilson caught four passes for 30 yards, Carnell Tate managed one catch for six, and I sat Emeka Egbuka before he turned nine targets and a rushing touchdown into a good fantasy day. Jameson Williams delivered two touchdowns and the Jake Ferguson sit worked, but those hits don’t erase the misses.
Bhayshul Tuten got 24 touches and still finished with only 10.6 Half-PPR points. That is an important lesson from a bad week: touches matter, but we still have to look at the offense getting those touches and whether the player is doing enough with them. I also am not counting the DJ Moore sit as a win when he did not play.
For Week 6, the starts are players with a real job to do: Stevenson’s existing work, Allen’s 24 carries, Marks stepping in after an injury and Boston earning targets in a bad passing offense. The sits are tougher. I am willing to move away from a big name when the current production is not there. These are seven fresh calls, not last week’s picks with a different label.
Scoring: These calls use my October 14 Week 6 Half-PPR rankings, with the latest rest-of-season ranks alongside them. The comparison matters: Allen and Marks have one-week opportunities driven by injuries, while Hurts and Loveland still carry more long-term value than this matchup suggests. I also checked playing time, touches, targets, opponents and the news that can change a lineup call. See the full Week 6 fantasy football rankings.
Rhamondre Stevenson: The Lead-Back Job Is Getting Bigger
Week 6RB15
Rest of SeasonRB21
Opponentvs. NYJ
TreVeyon Henderson going down is the headline, but Rhamondre Stevenson had already earned the carries. He ran it 13 times in both Weeks 4 and 5, scored in each game and caught three passes in each. Those receptions matter in Half-PPR. He can help without needing another trip to the end zone.
Now TreVeyon Henderson is expected to miss multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain. New England can still rotate other backs, and left tackle Will Campbell’s knee injury matters, but Stevenson is the one getting both carries and catches. He’s RB15 for this matchup and RB21 rest of season. That is a reasonable one-week bump for a reliable back facing the Jets, not a prediction that the Patriots will give him every touch.
My Call Start Stevenson as an RB2. The carries and catches give him a better floor than a back who needs one long run to save the day.
START · RB · NEW YORK JETS
Braelon Allen: Twenty-Four Carries Are Hard to Ignore
Week 6RB17
Rest of SeasonRB47
Opponent@ NE
Braelon Allen got 24 carries against Cleveland and turned them into 116 yards. The 22-yard touchdown to put the Jets ahead was the highlight. I care more about the other 23 carries. That is the kind of workload that gives a fantasy running back more than one way to pay off.
Breece Hall is still week-to-week with his quad injury and was ruled out of Wednesday’s practice. Allen has already handled a full game as the lead back, with Isaiah Davis behind him on PFM’s Jets depth chart. New England will be a tougher test than Cleveland, but the ranking gap tells the story: Allen is RB17 this week and only RB47 rest of season. I am buying the 24-carry job while Hall is out, not pretending Allen has replaced him for the year.
My Call Start Allen as an RB2 if Hall remains out. If Hall is cleared to play, revisit the entire backfield before setting the lineup.
START · RB · HOUSTON TEXANS
Woody Marks: Houston Has a Chance to Give Him the Lead Role
Week 6RB20
Rest of SeasonRB35
Opponent@ JAC
Woody Marks did not score against Tennessee. He still finished with 19 touches: 15 carries for 62 yards and four catches for 23. That is the part of his Week 5 box score I am interested in. He got the ball on the ground and stayed involved when Houston threw it.
David Montgomery left the Titans game with a groin injury, and DeMeco Ryans called him week-to-week. Ryans has indicated Marks can handle more work while Montgomery is out. The Texans depth chart still lists Montgomery ahead of Marks, which is why the injury is so important to this call. Marks is RB20 for Week 6 and RB35 rest of season. That’s an opportunity I’ll use against Jacksonville, provided Montgomery remains out; I am not expecting Houston to turn into a dominant running team overnight.
My Call Start Marks as an RB2 or flex if Montgomery is inactive. Confirm the inactives before the 9:30 a.m. ET kickoff. If Montgomery plays, Marks is a different bet.
START · WR · CLEVELAND BROWNS
Denzel Boston: Seven Targets in Back-to-Back Games Have My Attention
Week 6WR18
Rest of SeasonWR47
Opponentvs. BAL
Cleveland has not been an easy offense to trust, but Denzel Boston keeps giving Deshaun Watson a reason to throw his way. The rookie has seven targets in each of his last two games. He put up 89 yards against Pittsburgh, then caught the Browns’ touchdown against the Jets. That is more meaningful than a receiver who pops up once for a long score.
Boston now has 330 receiving yards and three touchdowns through five games. Here is what worries me: Cleveland allowed eight sacks against the Jets, and Baltimore will test that protection again. Watson may not have time to let every route develop. Still, Boston is listed as a starting receiver on PFM’s Browns depth chart and is getting opportunities that other Cleveland wideouts are not. I have him WR18 this week against a WR47 rest-of-season rank. That is the boldest receiver call here. I’m betting on his recent targets, with the quarterback and offensive line making the downside very real.
My Call Start Boston as a WR2 or flex over receivers who are getting only three or four looks a game. The quarterback and protection make this the riskiest start of the four.
Jalen Hurts: The Name Still Says QB1. The Last Three Games Do Not.
Week 6QB16
Rest of SeasonQB7
Opponentvs. CAR
This is the biggest name I am willing to sit this week. Jalen Hurts has scored 12.6, 13.5 and 13.0 fantasy points in his last three games. Against Jacksonville, he threw 40 passes for 220 yards and one touchdown, then added only two rushing yards. That is not the Hurts managers drafted to carry a lineup.
The rushing touchdowns have not been there either. Hurts has one through five games, and Philadelphia’s passing offense has spent too many drives going nowhere. Carolina is a matchup he can exploit, so I am not pretending the ceiling is gone. His QB7 rest-of-season rank reflects that talent and history, but I have him QB16 for this particular week. If you can start a healthy quarterback in my Week 6 top 10, I would make the switch instead of banking on a rushing touchdown to cover another quiet passing game.
My Call Sit Hurts only if you have a healthy top-10 Week 6 quarterback. Do not force a waiver-wire gamble just to bench him, but stop treating the season-long name as an automatic start.
J.K. Dobbins: That Touchdown Covered Up a Tough Running Game
Week 6RB28
Rest of SeasonRB25
Opponentvs. SEA
J.K. Dobbins scored against the Chargers. He also needed 18 carries to get 68 yards, and his two catches added just six yards. That was his first rushing touchdown of the season. Strip the score out and Denver got little fantasy production from a running back who has not rushed for 70 yards in a game this year.
Now Seattle comes to Denver on Thursday night. The Seahawks have a strong defensive front, and the Broncos produced only 224 total yards against Los Angeles. I still expect Dobbins to get carries. The issue is what those carries are worth if Denver struggles to sustain drives or involve him as a receiver. His RB28 weekly rank is only three spots behind his RB25 rest-of-season rank, so this is not a warning to dump him. It is a call to sit him when you have a back with better volume or a better scoring opportunity this week.
My Call Sit Dobbins if you can start Stevenson, Allen with Hall out, or Marks with Montgomery out. Do not chase last Sunday’s touchdown into a Thursday lineup.
Colston Loveland: I Still Like the Talent. I Do Not Like the Weekly Role.
Week 6TE16
Rest of SeasonTE10
Opponent@ ATL
Colston Loveland made a real case for more work with six catches for 57 yards in Week 4. Then he followed it with two catches for 19 yards in Week 5. Five targets are not a disaster at tight end, but Chicago has not been getting enough consistent production out of him to make the name an automatic start.
Loveland has 13 catches, 110 yards and no touchdowns through five games. The talent is not my concern, which is why he remains TE10 rest of season. Week 6 is another story: he is TE16 against Atlanta, and Chicago still needs to make him a bigger part of the passing game. Caleb Williams is expected to practice fully Wednesday as he works back from a hamstring injury, but his availability is not settled. I would rather use a tight end getting steady catches now than bet my lineup on the week Loveland finally breaks out.
My Call Sit Loveland if a healthy top-12 Week 6 tight end is available. The long-term upside does not make this an easy weekly start yet.
What I Am Trusting in Week 6
Stevenson was getting carries and catches before Henderson got hurt. Allen earned 24 carries with Hall out. Marks got 19 touches when Montgomery left. Boston has drawn seven targets in back-to-back games. Their higher Week 6 ranks are not an excuse to ignore the ROS numbers. They show where a real Sunday opportunity can matter more than the longer-term outlook. Allen and Marks especially depend on the injury report.
The sits are not a declaration that Hurts, Dobbins or Loveland suddenly became bad players. Hurts remains a top-seven rest-of-season quarterback, but the rushing scores are not coming right now. Dobbins is close to his season-long rank but faces Seattle on a short week. Loveland is still a top-10 rest-of-season tight end in my rankings; he just has not given us enough catches to trust him Sunday. For Week 6, I want the right workload at the right time.
Ranks reviewed: October 14, 2026. All seven Weekly and rest-of-season positions are taken from the latest 2026 Half-PPR ranking exports. Dobbins plays Thursday at 8:15 p.m. ET, so that call comes first. Houston plays Jacksonville in London on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. ET. Check Montgomery, Hall and the final inactives before locking those starts. Rankings and availability can still change before kickoff.
