Andy Reid Reveals Injury Update On Xavier Worthy

The Kansas City Chiefs‘ wide receivers are decimated again.

They lost Xavier Worthy just minutes into the season opener after he collided with Travis Kelce.

Fortunately, Worthy’s injury might not be as serious as initially thought.

“I know Xavier is the big question. He’s rehabbing and working his shoulder. We’ll just see where it goes, day by day here. We’ll see where we end up,” head coach Andy Reid said.

Early reports suggested that surgery could be a possibility.

Now, Worthy might be looking at a short absence by playing with a brace.

Of course, that could limit his impact, but it will be better than not having him at all.

Worthy was expected to be Patrick Mahomes’ primary target this season, at least while Rashee Rice served his six-game NFL suspension.

However, Worthy has a smaller build, which was a concern when he entered the NFL that may have proven true.

The Chiefs haven’t officially ruled him out of the upcoming Super Bowl rematch with the Philadelphia Eagles, so there’s a chance that he will suit up.

If that’s not the case, Mahomes will most likely turn to Marquise “Hollywood” Brown.

In the Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil, Brown led the Chiefs with 16 targets and 10 receptions, and he’s a big-play threat.

Injuries at wide receiver have diminished Kansas City’s offense for the past few seasons, and it can’t seem to catch a break in that regard.

With the defending champions up next, the Chiefs face a tough challenge to avoid an 0-2 start.
