Iga Świątek once again showcased her trademark dominance by dispatching Karolína Muchová to storm into the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The Pole’s commanding victory over the Czech quickly caught the tennis world’s attention, with Coco Gauff’s former coach Brad Gilbert also weighing in with his reaction.

Muchová was far from an easy opponent for Iga Świątek, as she arrived on an eight-match winning streak and brimmed with confidence after her recent WTA 1000 triumph at the Qatar Open in Doha. However, the Pole drew on her experience to take control from the outset.
The Czech managed to keep pace with Świątek in the early exchanges, holding serve through the opening five games. However, the sixth proved decisive as a lengthy struggle featuring five deuces finally tipped in the Pole’s favor. Świątek surged forward to the net to seal the break with a crisp backhand volley, and moments later piled on the pressure with a fierce return that forced Muchová into a forehand error.
The world No. 2 eventually secured the opening set 6–2 and tightened her grip on the contest in the second. She offered the 13th seed little opportunity to respond, racing through the set 6–0 to wrap up the match in just 77 minutes and book her place in the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open.
The tennis world quickly took notice of the Pole’s emphatic victory, with Gauff’s former coach and former world No. 4 Brad Gilbert also weighing in on X. The American appeared impressed by Świątek and described it as her best performance of the season.

Świątek returned to the tour after a brief break following her quarterfinal exit at the Qatar Open in Doha, but the pause has helped her rediscover rhythm. The Pole has not dropped a set on her way to the quarterfinals of the BNP Paribas Open and will aim to maintain that dominance against Elina Svitolina.
Świątek also enters the contest as the favorite, holding a commanding 4–1 head-to-head advantage over the Ukrainian. It now remains to be seen how the Pole deals with her upcoming matches going forward.
