Steelers-Falcons Broadcast Available In Most Major TV Markets For Season Opener

The Pittsburgh Steelers versus the Atlanta Falcons isn’t the marquee Week 1 matchup that rivalry games like Rams-49ers or Super Bowl rematches like Seahawks-Patriots are, but Pittsburgh is always a big draw and the television networks always want a healthy slice of those ratings.

The Steelers-Falcons game, being played in Pittsburgh, will be available in most major TV markets around the country, per coverage maps from 506 Sports. All markets marked red in the map below will show the Steelers-Falcons game on their local FOX stations.

The 1 PM/ET game will be aired on FOX with Joe Davis and Greg Olsen calling the game and Pam Oliver on the sidelines. In that same time slot on FOX, the Bears-Panthers, Saints-Lions, and Buccaneers-Bengals are also competing for air time around the country.

The Bears-Panthers game will dominate the midwest in proximity to Chicago, but the entire western half of the country (including Hawaii and Alaska) will show the Steelers and Falcons, as well as a healthy chunk of the south and most of the northeast.

Houston and Jacksonville are two of the only major cities without a team playing outside the midwest that will not be airing the Steelers game, instead showing close neighboring cities like New Orleans and Tampa Bay.

Both the Steelers and Falcons carry the intrigue of new head coaches, though both are veteran coaches in the league. The Falcons have a new starting quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa, while Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers is beginning his retirement tour after two decades in the league as a surefire future Hall of Famer.

If you happen to fall outside of the markets showing the Steelers game, you can still watch via NFL Game Pass for a healthy fee, or make the trip out to one of your local sports bars. Next week’s Steelers-Patriots game should have even more broadcast coverage, but Pittsburgh won’t have its first nationally televised game until October in Week 4 against the Cleveland Browns.
