Five weeks into the NFL season, there aren’t undefeated teams anymore. The Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive miscues were too big to overcome against Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos in Week 5. All things considered, this was far from a surprise.
New Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo was under heavy fire for his predictable play-calling, and the lack of involvement of WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith also turned plenty of heads. However, it was QB Jalen Hurts who took a step forward and took full responsibility for the team’s offensive miscues.
Jalen Hurts shoulders blame for Eagles’ offensive struggles
“Ultimately, I can take accountability for everything and take responsibility for it all,” Hurts said after the game, per Pro Football Talk. “The lack of execution and maybe lack of sense of urgency in how our operation is. And so I take the responsibility for all of it because I’m just trying to find solutions for it. Just trying to grow and learn from it and I look at this as an opportunity in itself. You play the game to win and when you don’t, you learn from it.”
