Brenton Strange Expected to Maintain Larger Role Against Colts

Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Brenton Strange is expected to remain a key part of the passing attack in Sunday’s matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Strange practiced in full throughout the week despite dealing with an eye injury and carries no game designation heading into Week 8.

Strange has been productive over his last three games, recording 19 receptions on 23 targets. His increased involvement has helped establish him as a reliable option for quarterback Trevor Lawrence, especially as Jacksonville navigates injuries among its receiving options.

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers is a question mark heading into the divisional matchup. Meyers was limited during Wednesday and Thursday’s practices before missing Friday’s session with hamstring and ankle injuries. The Jaguars subsequently listed him as questionable.

If Meyers is unavailable, Strange could see additional opportunities in the passing game. Parker Washington and the remaining Jacksonville receivers would also be candidates for increased involvement, leaving Lawrence with several options to distribute the ball.

The matchup against Indianapolis could provide another favorable opportunity for Strange. The Colts have been more vulnerable against tight ends than wide receivers this season, potentially creating an opening for Jacksonville to attack the middle of the field.

Strange has benefited from an expanded role over the last several weeks and appears positioned to maintain that involvement against Indianapolis. His recent production, combined with his full participation in practice, gives the Jaguars another dependable option in the passing game as they prepare for their Week 8 matchup.
