It’s been a while since the Kansas City Chiefs had an explosive offense.
Fans have grown frustrated with coordinator Matt Nagy, who has failed to find the same success as Eric Bieniemy did.
This season in particular, the running game has been one of their biggest issues.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes leads the Chiefs with seven explosive runs (of at least 10 yards), while running backs Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco are tied for second with one each.
“Not ideal,” Dan Orlovsky wrote on X.

Mahomes has shown that he can be efficient with his legs, but it’s not like they’re drawing up those plays for him.
He has had to scramble often because his receivers fail to create separation.
Also, he hasn’t had the time or space to move around in the pocket, so he has to take matters into his own hands when he sees some room in front of him.
Additionally, it speaks volumes about the lack of efficiency from their running backs.
Pacheco has looked like a shell of himself ever since he returned from injury last season, and it’s been years since Hunt was a marquee player.
Mahomes might be one of the best quarterbacks of all time, but this is a team sport, and he’s not getting any help.
That’s why Kansas City is 0-2 heading into its Week 3 game at the New York Giants.
