Adam Schefter shares strong reaction to Maxx Crosby comments about possible trade from Raiders

Star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby insisted that he “never wanted” to leave the Las Vegas Raiders “in the first place” earlier this offseason before the Baltimore Ravens backed out of sending the Raiders two first-round draft picks for his services in March due to reasons related to his knee.

Later on Monday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter appeared on “The Pat McAfee Show” and discussed Crosby’s future. Schefter indicated that he isn’t fully convinced Crosby will remain committed to staying with the Raiders through the entire 2026 season.

“I think the real question with Maxx Crosby and his future in Vegas comes down to what happens if this team doesn’t perform well,” Schefter explained, per Eduardo Razo of Heavy. “What if there’s a contender out there before the trade deadline that wants to beef up its pass rush? Could we see a team later this season, if the Raiders’ season is slipping away, make a run at Maxx Crosby? I could see that being a possibility in October. I see that.”

As of Tuesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Raiders fourth among the betting favorites at +1000 odds to finish the upcoming season with the fewest wins in the league. While veteran Kirk Cousins is on track to serve as Las Vegas’ Week 1 starting quarterback, he could eventually lose the QB1 job to No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza.

Could Raiders make shocking Maxx Crosby trade this summer? 

The fact that Crosby and Cousins recently got into a scuffle during a practice caused some to wonder if Crosby was once again feeling frustrated regarding the overall state of the Raiders. Schefter suggested that isn’t the case and that Crosby truly wants to stay put this summer. 

“Right now, no,” Schefter said about the Raiders possibly trading Crosby before the season starts. “Maxx wants to be there, and I just think he’s worked up. He’s intense. He wound up hitting Kirk. I didn’t see the two plays. Kirk took offense to it, and here we go.”

It remains to be seen if that intensity will cause Crosby to want to join a championship-caliber club before the trade deadline arrives in November.
