NFL Reveals The Current And Former Steelers Who Will Announce Pittsburgh’s Draft Picks

The NFL has shared each franchise’s guest announcers to declare draft picks through next week’s big event. Hosting the draft downtown, Pittsburgh’s selections are all the more special, and there are heavy hitters who will be on hand. Per the league’s Thursday press release, three former Steelers and one current player will announce picks throughout the weekend.

– Joey Porter Jr.
– Jerome Bettis
– John Stallworth

They will announce the team’s four selections across the second and third rounds: No. 53, No. 76, No. 85, and No. 99.

The Porters will be a rare father-son combo to announce the picks. Joey Sr. was selected by the Steelers in the third round of the 1999 NFL Draft, developing into one of the game’s best and most feared pass rushers. Joey Jr. was taken by Pittsburgh at the top of the second round in 2023, turning into an excellent cornerback who is in for a big offseason pay day.

Bettis was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams but starred in Pittsburgh. A city icon known as “The Bus,” he spent a decade with the Steelers and rushed for over 10,000 yards during his time with the team. He capped his career winning Super Bowl XL, his first, with the team.

Stallworth was part of the Steelers’ historic 1974 NFL Draft class that produced four Hall of Famers as well as another one in undrafted free agent Donnie Shell. A fourth-round pick from Alabama A&M uncovered by legendary scout Bill Nunn, Stallworth spent his entire 14-year FL career with Pittsburgh. A four-time Super Bowl champ and eventual Hall of Famer, he recorded over 8,200 yards in his career and made iconic plays in the biggest games.

Like the other 31 franchises, the Steelers’ first-round pick will be announced by Roger Goodell. Often, the NFL has fans announce Day 3 selections, though the league’s press release didn’t specify if that will continue for 2026.

Other notable guest pickers include former Pitt Panthers in RB Tony Dorsett, RB Curtis Martin, and OT Jimbo Covert. In total, nine Hall of Famers will announce selections.

The NFL Draft will be held April 23-25.
