Apparently, the Vikings had a trade negotiated to move off WR3 Jauan Jennings.
Consider what Ari Meirov had to say. The league insider passed along the insight from Jay Glazer: “The #49ers and #Vikings recently had a trade agreement in place for WR Jauan Jennings to return to San Francisco, but Jennings made it clear he didn’t want to go back, and the deal fell through, per @JayGlazer.”
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler responded to the same Glazer report, writing, “Vikings welcomed input from Jennings, who had a ‘voice’ in the process, per source. Jennings expressed desire to stay in Minnesota because he believes in the team’s direction, the source added, while Minnesota believes he’s a key piece.”
Finally, note that Pro Football Talk responded to the report with another insight: “Via @JayGlazer, the Vikings and 49ers had a trade in place for WR Jauan Jennings, contingent on Jennings getting on a Zoom call with Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch. Jennings decided to stay in Minnesota.”
The Vikings did have a deal in place to move Jennings. The pair of teams had agreed upon terms but Jennings opted to stick around in the Twin Cities.
Vikings Had a Jauan Jennings Deal in Place
Coming off the Week 8 loss, the 6-1 Vikings are sorting through the reality of a mostly impotent passing attack. Things have gotten so discouraging that even Justin Jefferson, always a pro, is publicly expressing his frustration.
Earlier in the year, Jennings was to one to be visibly frustrated. And, for whatever it’s worth, Jennings has good reason to be frustrated. His production has been quite modest.
He did miss a game earlier in the year due to needing to take care of a personal issue, so note that he’s got a half dozen games in his Vikings career. So far, the WR3 is sitting atop 6 catches for 54 yards and zero scores; his normal Vikings game therefore involves catching a single pass for less than 10 yards.
Far too often, Jauan Jennings has run free only to see the ball not sent in his direction. Apart from T.J. Hockenson, the Vikings’ pass catchers are all underperforming. The issue doesn’t appear to be with the pass catchers.

What’s odd about the report is that the GM was willing to send a weapon to San Francisco, a team that’s better than the Vikings and within the same conference.
Teasley, a former Seahawks executive, knows how dangerous the 49ers can be. Being willing to send them a life jacket during the middle of the season appears odd, especially since the 49ers and Vikings will play each other later on in the 2026 season.
Whatever San Francisco was offering must have been compelling since teams usually don’t like helping a rival.

Jauan Jennings, 29, was considered a great pickup when he put pen to paper following the 2026 NFL Draft. So far, he has mostly been a more expensive version of Trent Sherfield due to not being targeted in the passing game. Can that change in the coming weeks?
Next up for the Vikings is a Monday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills. The pressure is going to be high.
